Control Confirmation Feature

Posted: 10 months ago Quote #749
First, I just want to say great job with this software product! It really is incredible and has already saved me money.

I too work with control software, but in the industrial SCADA end. One easy addition from the SCADA end that could be very beneficial to this product is an optional "are you sure" pop-up. Obviously, for lights and some devices we don't really care, but for the garage door, water shut off, or other "big" things I would suggest this feature to prevent from us accidentally operating those devices.

From a programming prospective it would be as simple as adding a "Enforce Confirmations" check box (or something similar) for each device. Then if that box is checked and I try to operate my garage door, it would give me a "are you sure" with a yes/no or ok/cancel box. I would then leave this box unchecked for each of my lights allowing them to operate the way they do now.

Thanks!

Good idea. I'll add a Trello card to track the work on it. You can vote on the feature as well as any other you see a need for.

Btw, what's SCADA?

SCADA is Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition. It's in oil and gas, transportation, electric, and a few other verticals. I'm in the electric side. So a big utility that has, lets say, 300 substations will have a small computer at each that monitors power, temperature and other data. They also have the ability to control breakers. The SCADA system talks to all of these substation computers to give a utility visibility and control to all of their assets in the field.
